Emma Topol graduated with honors from the directing program at GITIS, the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts in Moscow. After moving to the United States, she continued her theater studies at New York University. Her professional life, however, took a different direction: for more than twenty-five years, she worked as a journalist in international radio and television.

Today, Emma Topol is the author of novels in Russian and English. Her love of theater — and of the microphone — never quite disappeared. She now records her own readings of literary works.
